Hi, I'm Sara
Yoga, Falls Prevention and Fitness
Instructor and Educator
Simply put, I love teaching. I also love learning. I love being physically active, with all the health benefits this brings. My classes are fun, functional and based on evidence, and that's a guarantee!
โ
I started my career in Sports Centre Management and Sports Development with disabled people. I gained lots of fitness qualifications along the way. If it's on dry land in a fitness environment, then I'm qualified to teach it! (see Qualifications)
โโ
As a tutor with YMCA Fitness Industry Training I spent years sharing my passion, and more recently I've been working with YMCA Awards as a Technical Contributor. I continue to tutor and learn with Later Life Training, on courses for professionals working with frailer older people with a risk of falls, including Otago and Postural Stability Instructor (PSI). I also work with YMCA Awards as a technical writer.
โ
I co-designed the first course for fitness instructors working with disabled people and wrote a book on the subject, 'Training Disabled People' (2007, A&C Black).
โ
Thanks to my husband, Suresh, I moved from the bustle of London to the beautiful Scottish Highlands. Together we run Equal Adventure,
resourcing inclusive outdoor adventure with disabled people. We have a daughter, Ella, whose humour and love of movement almost matches with mine!
Because I’ve always been in touch with you now & again.. it’s easy to not to remember how & who was there at the start, helping to open doors that I still use now … Thank you Sara :)
